Bikolano Buhi-Daraga is one of the main groups of Bikol dialects. It is spoken along the Rinconada (Buhi, Camarines Sur) and Daraga corridor, which is one of the most progrssive corridor areas in the region. It includes the eowns of Bato, Balatan, (in Cam. Sur) and Libon, Polangui, Oas, Guinobatan, Camalig, and Daraga (in Albay), and the cities of Iriga (in Cam. Sur) and Ligao (in Albay).
The region is actually sandwhiched by the "Naga-Central Bikol" speakers of Naga City and Legazpi City, the two main cities in the Bikol region, where the language spoken is the so-called "standard Bikol," used in the Church liturgy, deliberations in the government offices, and during official gatherings. ALmost everyone in Bikol is able to speak the "standard Bikol."
The Rinconada Bikol from buhi to Daraga is quite different from the "standard bikol" especially in pronunciation. Rinconada Bikol has the distinctive "short I" sound, that is equivalent to the long "e" or "U" sound of the standard bikol, tagalog, and cebuano. (WILLI BACLAO, Pantao Libon Albay)
