In 2001, Biddinghuizen had 5010 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 1.4 km², and contained 1901 residences.[1]

Biddinghuizen is a village in the municipality of Dronten, Flevoland province.
That was not quite true, as the flag as a whole was very different from the Marknesser flag - however the arms were quite alike - no wonder: it had been designed by someone who sold those arms to quite a few Flevoland villages.
It was agreed that the Marknesse arms were older, and that Biddinghuizen would look for something else for its flag.

The number of villages was reduced due to increased traffic and experiences gained in developing the Noordoostpolder, where a similar municipality had already been built.
Eventually it was decided there were to be two smaller villages (Biddinghuizen and Swifterbant) and one larger town (Dronten).
