Big Boi - Art History Online Reference and Guide (451 words)
Big Boi (born Antwan André Patton on February 1, 1975 in Savannah, Georgia) is an African American hip hop artist and producer; one half of the successful and avant-garde hip-hop duo OutKast.
Big Boi was born and spent the first half of his childhood in Savannah before moving to Georgia's capital of Atlanta.
Big Boi is also the more direct member of the team, and has often used his lyrics to criticize the problems that plague both the African American community and the world.
Big Boi raises bar for hip-hop shows (410 words)
With only a handful of shows behind him, Big Boi tore through an hourlong set of tracks from "Speakerboxxx" (including a frenetic "Ghettomusick" and bounding "The Rooster") and a menu of OutKast classics in a sweaty, briskly paced set whose bells and whistles coolly defied the expectations for the average hip-hop show.
Big Boi packed the stage with OutKast's oft-employed four-piece Horns Unlimited, two backup singers, two additional MCs in Konkrete and Killer Mike, two guitarists and four dancers.
In an efficient hour, Big Boi effectively married his past and present, and left fans with a promise of a still wide-open future.
