Bijelo Polje (Бијело Поље) is a city and municipality located in the northern part of Montenegro, in the geographical region of Sandžak, with a population of over 32,000, while the population of the Bijelo Polje municipality is 57,124 (2003 census), which makes it the third largest municipality in Montenegro, after Podgorica and Nikšić. The mainly Slavic population has a religious mixture, with 55% Christians of the Orthodox faith, and 45% Islamic (Sunni Muslim).
