The Biju Janata Dal is a regional party of the Indian state of Orissa. It has its roots in the rickety Janata Dal, which formed several short-lived governments at the Centre. After splitting from Janata Dal, the BJD has participated in several ruling coalitions with the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party both at the Centre and in Orissa.
