Austin coached for the Green Bay Packers during their "dynasty" years of the mid 1960's before becoming the Pittsburgh Steelers head coach. During his years with the Steelers he failed in producing a winning season going 11-28-3. He was replaced in 1969 by the legendary Hall of Fame coach Chuck Noll. Austin coached the 1970 Washington Redskins for a single season before retiring from football.
