Bill Foulkes (born January 5, 1932 in St. Helens) was an English football player. Bill came through the junior ranks at Manchester United. His first game for the club came against arch-rivals Liverpool in 1952. He was a central defender for the great Busby Babes teams of the 1950's. He was a survivor of the Munich air disaster. Bill won many awards for the club, including 4 League Championship medals (1956, 1957, 1965, and 1967). He also won one F.A. Cup in 1963. He also helped United win the European Cup in 1968. Bill played 679 games for the club, second only to Bobby Charlton, and scored 9 goals in all competitions. On his retirement at the end of the 1969-70 season, 38-year-old Bill Foulkes was one of the longest-serving player in the First Division - having been in the United first-ream for 18 seasons. William Henry "Fatty" Foulke (also spelt Foulk or Foulkes) (April 12, 1874 in Dawley, Shropshire – May 1, 1916) was a professional cricketer and football player in England in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Foulke was renowned for his great size and weight, reaching perhaps 24 stone (150 kg) at the end of his career, although reports on his weight vary.
Foulke appears in the Mitchell and Kenyon films, playing in a match on September 6, 1902.
