One of the pioneers of midget racing on the East Coast the ARA Big Car Champion was dubbed “The Yonkers Express” and later became known as “Wild” Bill Holmes.
That same year Holmes won track titles at Freeport, NY, Philadelphia‘s Yellow Jacket Stadium, Bridgeport and West Haven, CT and the 1936 Metropolitan Racing Association title.
Holmes raced after the War and records show two wins at Freeport, NY and one at Danbury, CT in 1945.
