Career

After graduation from William & Mary, Lawrence wrote for hit shows including Friends, Boy Meets World, and The Nanny and produced the animated series Clone High. He is also the creator of the sitcoms Spin City and his current venture, Scrubs, which has finished six of its seven seasons on NBC. He is also one of the producers of the rejected television pilot Nobody's Watching. In 2006/2007 he was prepping the film "Fletch Won" (which is a prequel to the previous Fletch films), but after Scrubs star Zach Braff dropped out, Bill Lawrence then soon after dropped out as well. Lawrence casually announced Locklear's involvement in the show during a session Wednesday (July 24) at the TV Critics Association press tour in Pasadena.
Although their paths never crossed on "Spin City," Lawrence says he's gotten to know Locklear in recent years and says "She's a very sweet lady, and I thought it would be fun" to bring her on the show.
