Bill was born to Dimitri (Jim) Castrisios Miliotis, origins from Kythera, and Envangalia (Angela) Balloyoulo. The Balloyoulo family were Greek refugees from Asia Minor, who anglicised their surname to Balson when they migrated to Australia.[1] The couple married and settled in Chinchilla and had 4 sons. The first two, non-identical twins were George and John, and later, Chris and Bill (Vassilli). Bill has collaborated in numerious works with his brother, George.
