William O. Campbell (born July 7, 1959 in Charlottesville, Virginia) is an actor who is well known for his starring role in the television series Once and Again as well as his role as a gay gynecologist, Dr. Jon Philip Fielding (credited as "William Campbell") in all three of the television mini-series adaptations of Armistead Maupin's novels of the same title Tales of the City, More Tales of the City, Further Tales of the City and as Carter Buckley in the television series The O.C.. He currently has a recurring role as Jordan Collier on the USA Network original series The 4400. His film credits include The Rocketeer, Bram Stoker's Dracula and Enough. Campbell was the second choice of the producers of Star Trek: The Next Generation to play the role of William Riker, but lost the role to Jonathan Frakes. Campbell would later appear as a guest star in the second season episode "The Outrageous Okona". His first prominent role was that of Luke Fuller, Steven Carrington's lover on "Dynasty". This role is also oddly notable in that Campbell was one of only two cast members whose characters actually did die in the infamous Dynasty Wedding Massacre in 1985 (the other victim being Ali MacGraw's character, Lady Ashley Mitchell).
