Billy Schwer was born in Luton, Bedfordshire on 12 April 1969. He was a light-welterweight boxer, winning 39 fights, 30 as knockouts. He held the British, Commonwealth and European titles, before winning the International Boxing Organization light-welterweight belt in 2001. Schwer retired shortly after in 2001.
