Bink is a video file format (extension .bik) developed by RAD Game Tools and used primarily in computer games. It has been used in over 3,800 games for Mac OS, Windows, Xbox 360, Xbox, GameCube, Wii, Playstation 3, PlayStation 2, Nintendo DS, and Sony PSP [citation needed]. The format includes its own video and audio codecs, supporting resolutions from 320×240 all the way up to high definition (HD) video. It is bundled as part of the RAD Video Tools along with RAD Game Tools' previous video codec, Smacker video. It is a hybrid block-transform and wavelet codec capable of using 16 different encoding techniques allowing it to compress any type of video. The codec places emphasis on lower decoding requirements over other video codecs with specific optimizations for the different computer game consoles it supports. Fixed a problem in the Bink file header validation where partially compressed Bink files would be seen as corrupted.
Forced the first Bink frame to always be a key frame (avoids surprises if you use the compression hint window incorrectly).
Changed the way Bink handles small delays (60 to 400 ms) during playback - avoids a very rare pathological case where Bink would keep skipping frames, thinking it was lagging behind the audio.

Bink is a hybrid block-transform and wavelet codec that can encode your video using 16 different compression techniques (wavelet, DCT, motion compensation, a variety of vector quantizers, Smacker-style, etc).
Bink also has a VBR psycho-acoustic based audio codec that is capable of 8:1 up to 20:1 perceptually lossless compression, so your audio will sound as good as your video looks.
The Bink SDK supports the Sony PLAYSTATION (R) 3, Sony Playstation Portable (PSP), the Nintendo Wii, the Nintendo DS, the Xbox 360 and the Xbox consoles (using pixel shaders!), the Sony PlayStation 2 console, all versions of 32-bit Windows, Windows 64, the Xbox console, the Nintendo GameCube console, MacOS, MacOS X and GNU/Linux.
