Encyclopedia > Biomechanoid

A "BioMechanoid" is a fictional entity that features in many science-fiction films, books and television programs. It is usually an organism that not only utilizes mechanical parts like a cyborg, but the mechanical parts are often self-healing and work together with the organisms body in a way much more effectively than a cyborgs . Some Biomechanoids are genetically engineered especially so that the Mechanical parts can be installed later and then become a part of it's body.(Like the Biomechanoids in Serious Sam) A Biomechanoid could also be a Robot using an organic material for it's body instead of an inorganic material.(Giving it the advantage of regeneration to an extent). You would not be wrong in thinking of a Biomechanoid as a very advanced cyborg. However, some biomechanoids are creatures that are organic with mechanial features. this includes the leviathan transport ships of Farscape. The are animals with doors and living quarters, but they are still able to give birth and die as normal creatures would.
