Description

The Bird Man is the title for the leader of the Mud People and a man who can call birds to himself. The Mud people look to him for direction in leading their people. The current Bird Man is a man with sharp (or sometimes soft) brown eyes. Long hair, mostly silver-gray, lay on his shoulders, flowing partway down the deerskin (buckskin) tunic that matches his pants, which he wears even to banquets. His clothes have no decoration, but a bone carved whistle hangs on a leather thong around his neck. Not old, but not young, and still handsome, he is about as tall as Kahlan. The skin of his weathered leathery face is as tough-looking as the deerskin clothes he wears. The Bird Man is used to people being afraid when they look at him, even if it is not warranted. I had been for years anxious to know what might be the use of the pectinated claws of birds; and on examining both its feet with a glass, I found the racks crammed with insects, such as occur on the bird's head, and especially around the ears.
Now, in this bird, which is confessed to be inferior to none in its power of flight, the sternal crest is not nearly so prominent as that of a Grouse or Partridge, so that the supposed indication which this part affords of vigorous flight is evidently fallacious.
Flying High: Bird Man (775 words)
The bird is powered by a rubber band and is said to be capable of flights of 150 feet.
Bird flight was much more complicated than even da Vinci realized, and he lacked the materials and technology needed to make the machine leave the ground.
Attach a small rubber band under the bird's belly that connects the base of each wing, to assist with the downward movement of the wings.
