History
The town was first settled around 1816. The Town of Birdsall was created in 1829 from parts of the Towns of Almond and Allen. The Fire Department of Birdsall was created by William Timberlake, the future Undersherrif of Allegany County. Timberlake moved to Birdsall with his family on 8-12-77 from Levittown, LI. Timberlake had retired from the NYC Police Department (110th Precinct, Queens NY). In 1978, Timberlake started the Birdsall Fire Department and also was able to get the first fire truck donated from the Town of Egypt, NY fire department.
