Birla Corporation Limited, popularly known as Birla Corp is an Indian company based in Kolkata. It is the flagship company of the M P Birla group of companies.


In 1919, Shri Ghanshyam Das Birla founded the Birla Jute Manufacturing Company. This company diversified and expanded and was renamed to its present name to reflect the change.

  • Mrs. Priyamvada Birla (d. July 3, 2004)

In August 2004, Birla Corp decided not to appoint any chairman following the vacancy created by the death of Mrs. Priyamvada Birla. The company will be run by R S Lodha, the co-chairman since September 15, 2001.
