Birley ward is one of the 28 electoral wards in City of Sheffield, England. It is located in the southeastern part of the city. It covers an area of 5.1 square kilometres and includes the districts of Charnock, Base Green, Frecheville, Birley, Scowerdons and part of Hackenthorpe. The population of this ward in 2001 was 18,100 people in 7,900 households. In the 2004 local elections Bryan Gerard Lodge, Michael (Mike) John Pye, and Angela Christine Smith, all Labour Party candidates were returned as councilors for the ward. Birley
