This album has an interesting concept dimension. A character known as O (help out if you know who this is) appears early in the album calling on the phone to tell RZA about a drop off, urging RZA not to forget. Later there is a short skit where RZA meets this guy and they start talking. RZA mentions he made the drop off properly. This guy then starts explaining how he has been studying 'lessons'. RZA is unbelieving given the guys character but the guy persists telling RZA to check this stuff out which is Supreme Mathematics. Later on you hear RZA preaching this stuff to someone else and then O comes along and this is where RZA tells him, "don't call me bobby no more" when asked he says to call him "Prince Rakeem". Thus, the Birth of a Prince. This is also reflected in the tracks. At the beginning they are much more focused on street life etc. Later in the album there's an increasing emphasis on rapping about God and some of the ideas from RZA's sect of Islam. The last track is a very interesting and unique culmination. All through out the RZA production creativity is exemplified with each track a very unique groove.
