Black Africa is a colloquial term that refers to areas of the African continent which largely correspond to Sub-Saharan Africa. The term commonly is used to distinguish between North Africa, which is generally and incorrectly perceived in the West to be peopled almost exclusively by non-blacks, and the remainder of the continent. While in common usage, it is an inaccurate term, because there are several Saharan nations which are widely acknowledged to be predominantly black, among them Mali, Niger and Chad. These nations are at least in part as much northern African nations geographically as is Sudan, which is also a predominantly black African nation, but one which commonly is considered part of North Africa. Further, significant populations of indigenous black Africans exist across North Africa (see Sub-Saharan Africa). Africa is the worlds second-largest continent and second most populous after Asia. ...
