The county has been carried by the Democrats in every presidential election since 1988, and was the only Idaho county carried by the Democrats in the 2000 and 2004 elections, with approximately two-thirds of its vote going of John Kerry in 2004 [2].
Blaine County's reputation as a resort and celebrity attraction has created a situation where the cost of living, particularly in housing, is significantly higher than the rest of the state.
In the county the population was spread out with 24.00% under the age of 18, 7.70% from 18 to 24, 32.60% from 25 to 44, 27.90% from 45 to 64, and 7.80% who were 65 years of age or older.
Blaine County (345 words)
When the county was created by the Legislature on March 5, 1885, it was named in honor of American statesman James G. Blaine.
In the general election of 1887, Brewster became the county seat and two years later a courthouse was built.
The land of Blaine County today remains much like it was found by the early settlers.
