Encyclopedia > Blastbeats

A blastbeat is a repetitive series of kick, snare and hat combinations that usually mock the intensity of a machine gun in sound. This method is used to create a forceful climax or sometimes is the basis of an entire song. Used widely in Death Metal and Black Metal, it symbolizes the brutal sound that these two genres(and relating subgenres) bring forth.
