Fire and emergency services are provided by a mutual agreement with Westerville. Until recently, Blendon Township had owned a two bay fire station staffed by Westerville since the early 1970's. This station, however, has been replaced by a newer and larger facility a mile north of the older location.

Much of Blendon Township was developed in the mid 20th Century and was largely built out by the late 1970's. There is growing concern over the growth in rental properties in older neighborhoods and white flight from the area. Despite this, the township has many desireable and affordable neighborhoods.
