Bloemfontein Celtic is a South African football (soccer) club, playing in the country's Premier Soccer League. The club is now considered as one of the wealthiest in the whole country and has large fan base in the Free State. The club was founded in 1969 as Bloemfontein Celtics Football Club. It used to be rivaled by another local club by the name "Mangaung United" which was more popular and stronger than Celtics. One day in the mid seventies Celtics surprised everuone by beating Mangaung United 3 - 0. That's when the term 'Phunya Sele Sele' surfaced. In 1984, businessman Petros Molemela took over the club. In November 2001, after the relegation of Phunya Sele Sele, Molemela sold his shares in the club to Jimmy Augousti, a former Celtic player, and Mmuso Tsoametsi. After only three years out of the top-flight, the club regained its PSL status with an impressive season in 2003/04 when they were crowned First Division champions. They surprised many by winning the 2005 SAA Supa 8 tournament. This is a list of major football (soccer) stadia, grouped by country and ordered by capacity. ... Celtic to meet Sundowns in final (435 words)
Bloemfontein Celtic will meet Mamelodi Sundowns in the final of the Telkom Charity Cup after they beat Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Celtic almost took the lead four minutes later when Siyabonga Nkosi played Kleinbooi Taaibos clear through, but Chiefs keeper Fernandez rushed off his line to challenge Taaibos and although the Celtic midfielder won the ball, Fernandez’s challenge did enough to put him off and Chiefs skipper Patrick Mabedi was on hand to clear the danger.
Celtic launched a quick counter-attack which culminated in Kilambe receiving the ball wide on the right and the striker beat his marker to pass to a teammate, whose effort on goal was parried by Fernandez, for Moses Spandeel to blast home from close range, to secure the place in the final.
