Terence William 'Blondie' Chaplin (b. 7 July 1951 - ) is a musician from Durban, South Africa best known for his brief stint in the early 1970s as a singer/guitarist for The Beach Boys. He sang lead on at least two of the group's songs, Sail On Sailor and "Funky Pretty" (both from the 1973 album Holland). During the late 1980s Chaplin toured with The Band replacing some of Richard Manuel's vocals and playing guitar. Since the late 1990s, Chaplin has been a backing vocalist and occasional guitar player for The Rolling Stones. Blondie appeared on Jennifer Warnes albums "The Hunter" and "The Well". Blondie Chaplin has a long awaited solo album coming out in May 2006. "Between Us" will be released on Big Karma Records and features Anton Fig on drums with all tracks recorded in NYC from 2003 - 2005. Terence William "Blondie"Chaplin, originally with the South African soul-cover band The Flames, best known as guitarist and singer in the Beach Boys from 1972 to 1974 and for his session-work with the Rolling Stones, joined the Band when they went back on the road after Richard Manuel's death in 1986.
Singing Richard's vocal parts, and doubling on guitar and drums, BlondieChaplin stayed with the Band until the tour was over at the end of the year.
Chaplin can be heard on Rick Danko's first solo album, and also on the Band's 1996 release High on the Hog.
