Bloodfin Tetra's are a silver fish, with beautiful green and blue streaks which cover the whole body. It's notable feature (as the name suggest) is the blood red colouration which resides at the tail, dorsal, anal and adipose fin.


They are comparitively large tetras growing to 5.5cm, and are best kept in soft, slightly acidic or hard water, although soft water is essential for breeding.


Bloodfin Tetra's are also more appreciated in the aquarium if the lighting is subdued and dark substrate is used, to show off the fish's colours.


An extremely hardy tropical fish, well suited to beginners, these fish can also be kept in coldwater tanks, providing the temperature does not drop below room temperature. They thrive quite happily in temperatures ranging from 64 - 83 degrees fahrenheit.


Regular feeding of dried foods and live foods maintain the Bloodfin Tetra's beautiful metallic sheen.


Bloodfin Tetra's are extremely hardy and beautiful fish which have become an aquarium favourite.
