The 2002 formation of bloodsimple (originally going by the name Fix 8) featured Vision Of Disorder members vocalist Tim Williams and guitarist Mike Kennedy, along with ex-Piece Dogs, Skrew, and Medication bassist Kyle Sanders and Medication, Downset, Crowbar, and Deadbolt credited drummer Chris Hamilton. Vision of Disorder was a hardcore / thrash metal band from Long Island, New York, USA. The bands frenetic and socially aware amalgam of hardcore and thrash metal gained the band a strong underground following before their demise in 2002. ... bloodsimple opened New York shows for Superjoint Ritual in early May 2004. The band signed to Bullygoat Records, the label founded by Chad Gray, vocalist for Mudvayne and Hellyeah, June. The debut record, entitled A Cruel World, was recorded in Vancouver, Canada with producer Garth Richardson. Initial live promotion saw the band partnered with Otep, American Head Charge and Candiria for the 'Alliance of Defiance' US tour commencing in late February. Summer 2005 US touring had the band partnered with American Head Charge and Static-X in June. The group then teamed up with Byzantine, Gizmachi and headliners Six Feet Under for further US "Masters of Brutality" dates announced as commencing in July. However, this trek would be postponed. Gigs throughout October and November saw the band packaged with Throwdown, Soulfly and Arizona's Incite. Superjoint Ritual was a New Orleans Sludge/Crossover Thrash band formed by Phil Anselmo, Joe Fazzio, and Jimmy Bower in the early 1990s, later to be joined by Hank Williams III, and Kevin Bond. ... March had the band scheduled for The Crusade III: Ascend Above the Ashes concerts in the UK and Ireland alongside God Forbid and Trivium. Trivia

The name bloodsimple comes from a term coined by hard-boiled detective novelist Dashiell Hammett. The term apparently describes to describe the addled, fearful mindset people are in after a prolonged immersion in violent situations. The term was coined in the novel "Red Harvest", which is also the title of their second album.
