In the anime series Gundam Seed, the Bloody Valentine Incident was the first major action of the first war between the Earth Alliance and ZAFT, which came to bear the same name.
On Cosmic EraFebruary 11, 70, the Earth Alliance and ZAFT had declared war, although no major actions had yet been fought until that time. On the same day, the Agamemmnon class carrierRoosevelt, loaded with several nuclear missiles, left Ptolomaeus Base on the Moon, headed for the "Junius City" area of the Zodiac Alliance for a show of force. On February 14, the Roosevelt, received authorization from the Atlantic Federation to use the force she was intended merely to show, and a fierce battle broke out between the ship and her escort group, and defending ZAFT forces using Laurasia class frigates and newly-commissioned Nazca class destroyers.
Only one nuclear-armed Moebius reached its launch point and fired, but one was all that was needed to trigger twenty-one months of war. The blast from the nuclear missile caused the Junius Seven colony to break up, killing a quarter-million Coordinators. This atrocity, dubbed "Bloody Valentine" for the day on which it had occurred, on set the stage for a long, bloody conflict to come.
A year later, on the day of the Valentine's Day dance, Warden escaped and traveled to Valentine Bluff and killed the two supervisors with his pickaxe.

My BloodyValentine is one of the better written holiday-themed slasher films, but unless you have a real taste for this genre, or unless a scary movie is the only way you can get your intended sweetie to jump into your arms, we suggest something a bit more romantic on Valentine's day.
