Bloomfield Hills is a city located in Oakland County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 3,940.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 12.9 km² (5.0 mi²). 12.8 km² (4.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.00% water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 3,940 people, 1,520 households, and 1,167 families residing in the city. The population density is 307.3/km² (796.4/mi²). There are 1,628 housing units at an average density of 127.0/km² (329.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 90.69% White, 1.65% African American, 0.10% Native American, 6.57% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.25% from other races, and 0.74% from two or more races. 1.09% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,520 households out of which 26.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.9% are married couples living together, 3.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.2% are non-families. 21.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.45 and the average family size is 2.84.
