History

Blount Springs' mineral springs and rural setting made it a summer resort for thousands of wealthy people from Alabama and elsewhere in the late 1800s and early 1900s. After a fire burned much of the town in 1915, it remained sparsely populated and largely undeveloped for several decades. In the late 1980s, developers began work on the Village at Blount Springs, the first stage of a 6,000-acre planned community on the former site of the Blount Springs resort.

The Blount Springs Arts and History Foundation hosts the annual Blue Hole Art Fest.
