Encyclopedia > Blue Angel (band)

Blue Angel was the name of the band (and debut album) that featured a pre-fame Cyndi Lauper. They were popular on the New York rockabilly scene, and performed typical late 1970's style cover versions of pop standards (most notably a rendition of Mann/Weill's "I'm Gonna Be Strong", which Lauper would later re-record as a solo artist). The band's album did moderately well, and helped to launch lead singer Lauper into superstardom.
