Blue Mountain is a town located in Logan County, Arkansas. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 132.


Geography

Blue Mountain is located at 35°7'51" North, 93°42'44" West (35.130839, -93.712182)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.8 km˛ (1.1 mi˛). 2.8 km˛ (1.1 mi˛) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 132 people, 55 households, and 33 families residing in the town. The population density is 47.2/km˛ (122.3/mi˛). There are 67 housing units at an average density of 24.0/km˛ (62.1/mi˛). The racial makeup of the town is 100.00% White, 0.00% Black or African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 55 households out of which 29.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.1% are married couples living together, 7.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 38.2% are non-families. 32.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.40 and the average family size is 3.15.


In the town the population is spread out with 26.5% under the age of 18, 3.8% from 18 to 24, 25.8% from 25 to 44, 25.0% from 45 to 64, and 18.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 109.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 102.1 males.


The median income for a household in the town is $16,500, and the median income for a family is $23,750. Males have a median income of $32,500 versus $21,667 for females. The per capita income for the town is $10,481. 19.3% of the population and 5.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 23.5% of those under the age of 18 and 3.8% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
