Blunt or sharp force trauma, mostly to the head, accounted for the cause of death for 369 (75%) of individuals examined from KB-S (surface) remains and from Grave KB-G1.
Undoubtedly, some cutting wounds were obscured by subsequent blunt force trauma or postmortem damage, but the characteristic straight linear, non-beveled appearance of these injuries was usually obvious upon examination of the skulls.
Combined sharp force trauma and blunt force trauma were observed in only 9 cases (2%); post-cranial trauma contributed to death only rarely.
