Boardwalk Records was setup by Neil Bogart in 1980, after Polygram acquired its Casablanca Records. The label has a huge hit act with Joan Jett before Neil Bogart died of cancer in 1982. Other artists on the Boardwalk label include Curtis Mayfild, Ohio Players, Richard 'Dimples' Fields, Chris Christian, Night Ranger, Ringo Starr, and Harry Chapin. The label fell into dissarray for the rest of the decade, ending up in bankruptcy. In the early 1990's, its assets were acquired by Reach Entertainment, who revived the label. It passed on to Colliers Media Company in the 1990's and then in 2005 was acquired by Margate Entertainment Company. Presently, Boardwalk Records is the first record label to produce 100% of its new product on DVD. Current artists on the label include Mark Lindsay, Bay City Rollers, Chris Montez, Karma, The Swank Bastards, Latin Quarter Jazz Quartet, and Denise Clemente.
