Bobby Rondinelli (born July 27, 1955, Port Jefferson, New York) is a rock drummer best known for his work with the bands Blue Öyster Cult, Rainbow, Quiet Riot, and Black Sabbath. He played with Sabbath on the albums Cross Purposes and Cross Purposes Live and was a member in 1994 and again in 1996. He is currently a member of the hard rock band The Lizards. Bobby took up drumming at 11 years old, having previously played guitar.


He also played in the bands Rondinelli and Sun Red Sun with the late Ray Gillen. Ray Gillen Ray Gillen (May 12, 1959 - December 1, 1993) was a singer best known for his work with the bands Black Sabbath and Badlands. ...


He also recorded the drum portions for the Scorpions' much lauded and big-selling 1984 "Love at First Sting" album. According to an interview (see Joe Siegler's Black-Sabbath.com for the link to the article), Rudolph Schenker wanted Bobby to join the Scorpions full time, but since they were the first German act to make it big, management wanted to keep the band German. Bobby commented he was well paid for his work on that album.


Bobby regularly does drum clinics and is co-author of 'The Encyclopaedia of Double Bass Drumming', published by Modern Drummer.


His kit includes Ludwig Drums with Attack drumheads, Paiste cymbals and gongs, and he plays with Vater sticks.
