Kylie Minogue: Body Language - PopMatters Music Review (746 words)
Minogue's slinky undergarments (revealed to all when Spooner ripped her dress off with a flourish), but even more curious was the music itself.
Minogue's 2001 album Fever was a long-overdue breakthrough in North America; for a decade, she had reigned as one of the top pop acts in the world, but had been unable to follow up her early Stateside success as a Stock, Aitken, and Waterman product back in 1988.
Minogue is at her most sultry and seductive, as she croons, "Knew you'd be here tonight/ So I put my best dress on/ Boy I was so right," as the synths build up subtly, only to come to an immediate halt on the hypnotic chorus.
Body Language (786 words)
Body Language is such a far cry from the campy Light Years that started her career resurgence three years ago, I won't blame her loyal fans within the gay community for feeling used.
Body Language is essentially a well-produced album designed to penetrate the US market via Starbucks and other jazzy coffee bean lounges and bistros everywhere.
Body Language is a great CD to accompany moments of pretentious glamor, such as when I want to dress up like Bridget Bardot in her glamorous days and twirl a spoon artfully in a cup of sophisticated java while trying to catch the eye of a Raoul Bova lookalike in Tuscany.
