The Boeing 80 was Boeing's first purpose-built airliner. A biplane like its predecessor, the Model 40A, it was significantly larger, with three engines, an enclosed flight deck for 2 pilots, and a cabin for 12 passengers. A larger model, the 80A, increased passenger capacity to 18, making its first flight on September 12, 1929. Image File history File links No higher resolution available. ... Despite complaints by pilots accustomed to flying in an open cockpit, the size of the Model 80 required a separate, enclosed flightdeck. The first version carried 12 people, and it was followed by the larger, 18-passenger Model 80A. Ten Model 80As flew for the Boeing airlines.

The 80A also introduced aviation's first female flight attendants, when registered nurse Ellen Church convinced managers at Boeing that women registered as nurses would be a useful part of an aircraft's crew. The Boeing Sonic Cruiser was a subsonic concept aircraft proposed by Boeing Commercial Airplanes in 2001.

Boeing 367-80 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (493 words)
The Boeing 367-80 or "Dash 80", as it was called within Boeing, was a concept demonstrator jet transport built in less than two years from project launch in 1952 to rollout on May 14, 1954 for a cost of $US 16 million dollars.
The designation was a disinformation tactic by Boeing; "367" was the Boeing model number of the C-97 Stratofreighter, an aircraft of the previous generation that the Dash 80 owed nothing to.
The Dash 80 is usually said to be the prototype for both the KC-135, an air tanker used by the United States Air Force, and the Boeing 707 airliner.
