Bonaire Day, which commemorates the discovery of Bonaire by Amerigo Vespucci, is a full day's celebration of Bonaire's flag, national anthem, and culture and it promises many interesting activities.
While Bonaire Day is normally held in the community centers in various barrios on a rotating annual basis, it was decided to hold this year's celebration in downtown Kralendijk because this year's event marks the 500th anniversary of Bonaire's discovery by Europeans.
Bonaire's favorite salt of the sea and father of the marine park, Captain Don Stewart, is wrapping up a second tome chronicling the adventures, mishaps, and other things that have happened while he's been around.
