History

French trappers knew this area before the Americans arrived. This place was called "Bon Pas", perhaps meaning "good path". Americans (from Kentucky) changed this to "Bone Pass", as though it were a "pass" through a mountain range. This was then changed to "Bone Gap", as in the Cumberland Gap. However, in modern times, having the name Bone Gap and being in such close proximity to "Lick Prarie", leaves the town open to much perverted humor. A Town Without Roads

With the exception of the main highway into town, there are no roads in Bone Gap. The town is connected by a series of alleys, where the sidewalk, when crossing the alley, will actually rise above the road (causing one to have to drive over it like an oversized speed bump). Bone Gap does, however, name their alleys as if they were streets.
