Encyclopedia > Boquillas

Boquillas (formally: Boquillas del Carmen) is a small town in the Mexican state of Coahuila, on the banks of the Río Bravo del Norte.

In the late 1990s, it was a small (25 resident) town with a bar, a taco stand, and little children setup outside the mission selling pretty rocks they had collected in the desert. You could rent stubborn ponies that only really wanted to go home. And you could party with the locals on Carta Blanca beer and brisket from the local Bed and breakfast (B&B).

Much information about the area and influences on the town can be found in the article on Big Bend National Park which is near.
