The football club Borac was founded on July 4, 1926. Originally it was named Radnički sportski klub Borac, meaning Workers' Sports Club Borac. It was founded by a group of football aficionados including Veselin Masleša, Rudolf "Rudi" Hiter, Savo Novaković, Mustafa Softić, Nikola Kuković and others.
