Boricua College was founded in early 1974 in response to the distressingly high attrition rate of Puerto Rican and Hispanic students from the public schools and college system of New York City: rates that had reaching almost 63% by the 1970's, despite "open enrollment" policy.
Boricua College opens its doors in rented quarters at Graham Avenue in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.
Boricua associate deans and faculty are invited to speak on the College's educational philosophy and model at three higher education institutions in Puerto Rico; the University of Puerto Rico, Inter-American University, and Colegio del Sagrado Corazon.
