Bottles is a New Zealand drinking game, commonly practiced by students. Any number of persons can play, although it is best with 5 to 9 persons. Rules: - Someone initiates the game by calling a random number from 1 to 6 and a direction, for instance 'three to my right'.
- The person to the right (or left) must continue counting in sequence: 4, 5, 6...
- Every time a number includes 7 or is a multiple of 7, the person must instead say "bottles" and the direction reverses.
- If someone makes a counting error you can 'accuse' them by pointing at them with your right elbow and calling 'drink!'.
- The accused person then has to drink with their left hand.
- Drinking with the wrong hand, or pointing with the wrong elbow is also a mistake requiring another drink.
- The person who just drank starts the next round.
- Misdirection by looking left while calling right (or vice versa) is a common trick, requiring another drink.
The initial sequence up to 100 is: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Bottles 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, Bottles 15, 16, Bottles 18, 19, 20, Bottles 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, Bottles Bottles 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, Bottles 36, Bottles 38, 39, 40, 41, Bottles 43, 44, 45, 46, Bottles 48, Bottles 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, Bottles Bottles 58, 59, 60, 61, 62, Bottles 64, 65, 66, Bottles 68, 69, Bottles Bottles Bottles Bottles Bottles Bottles Bottles Bottles Bottles Bottles 80, 81, 82, 83, Bottles 85, 86, Bottles 88, 89, 90, Bottles 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, Bottles Bottles 99, 100...
