Given that its Brads sophomore effort, the reader will appreciate that it is most definitely not his best work to date [well leave that to award winning album, Time Well Wasted and 5th Gear].
If you read some of my other Brad Paisley reviews, you would recall me saying constantly that the lyrics on his earlier albums are weaker and I definitely stand by that but the sound on all of his albums is top notch and I cant complain at all or expect more.
I think the track which displays Brads talent most is the track you have that effect on me, in which Brad tears it up and shows us he can play jazz.
You can see the grin on Brads face that sets the stage for the jam watch it broaden as each musician is showcased in a solo and see it open into a smile when the melody winds its way down a path somewhere between a jazz club and a Texas honky-tonk.
Brad will tell you he simply sings to bridge the gap between guitar solos, but thats hardly the case.
And through it all, Brad shines with prowess on guitar, with heart and humor in his voice, and with wit and sentiment in his writing.
