Norton attended the LA Kings' training camp in fall 2005, but did not make the team and signed with Jokerit in the Finnish SM-liiga. He played his first SM-liiga game on October 10 against HIFK. Over the autumn Norton became a popular player with the fans, thanks to his powerful physical play and attitude on the ice.
