Braddyville is a city located in Page County, Iowa. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 176.


Geography

Braddyville is located at 40°34'43" North, 95°1'47" West (40.578722, _95.029816)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.4 km˛ (0.5 mi˛). 1.4 km˛ (0.5 mi˛) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 176 people, 75 households, and 53 families residing in the city. The population density is 128.2/km˛ (331.7/mi˛). There are 83 housing units at an average density of 60.5/km˛ (156.4/mi˛). The racial makeup of the city is 99.43% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.57% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 75 households out of which 41.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.3% are married couples living together, 13.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.3% are non-families. 24.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.35 and the average family size is 2.77.


In the city the population is spread out with 27.3% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 24.4% from 25 to 44, 25.0% from 45 to 64, and 15.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 104.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.9 males.

A Braddyville, Iowa, native, Ross served three years in the U.S. Army before pursuing a goal to teach high school business.
Ross retired from the firm in 1984 and returned to the University of Iowa, where he completed his master's degree in accounting in 1986 and became an adjunct professor from 1987 to 1995.
