Church of the Nazarene, Bramley (950 words)
At the same time as the Bramley Church was looking for someone to come in to Pastor another defining moment was still to come.
He came with a younger congregation; families and young able people, there was a joiner, a bricklayer, a plumber, an electrician and others who were willing to help, and he even had offset-litho printing equipment and a printer.
The exterior walls were covered with metal cladding with plastic coating with a life-time guarantee, a new floor was laid, a new heating system was installed, the kitchen was moved and refitted and the whole building was extensively redecorated, at a total cost of £15,000.
Forest of Leeds - Bramley (345 words)
Early records show that part of Bramley was granted to Kirkstall Abbey in 1156 and it is generally believed that stone was taken from the Fall to be used in the building of the Abbey, although records also show stone from Horsforth was used.
Stone from Bramley Fall is said to be the hardest of the Millstone Grit formation found between Wharfedale and Airedale.
Bramley was the centre of a thriving leather industry until fairly recent times and it is reasonable to assume that oak bark from the Fall would be used to extract tannin for the tanning processes.
