One recipe for making a brandy cocktail follows. See also list of cocktails.


Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Brandy
  • 1/4 tsp Sugar syrup
  • 2 dashes Bitters
  • 1 twist of Lemon peel

Mixing instructions:


Stir all ingredients (except lemon peel) with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Add the twist of lemon peel and serve.

Brandy (short for brandywine, from Dutch brandewijn—fire wine) is a general term for distilled wine, usually 40–60% ethyl alcohol by volume.
The origins of brandy are unclear, and tied to the development of distillation.
Brandy as it is known today first began to appear in the 12th century and became generally popular in the 14th century.
