Ever since the Hillsborough disaster, football clubs in Europe have been converting their stadiums to all-seaters, and although Norwegian clubs have not felt the same pressure as e.g. English clubs, they have been hampered by the fact that continental competitions such as the Champions League and UEFA Cup demand that their games be all-seaters. For SK Brann, that would mean that they would play with a reduced capacity in European competitions, which is bound to affect the club's finances. In addition, the Norwegian Football Federation have imposed restrictions on non-seated attendance, and currently only a fraction of the terrace capacity is allowed for use. In the course of 2005, it became clear that Brann needed to improve their stadium, or build a new one. Other Norwegian clubs had built new, top class stadiums, such as Molde F.K., Viking F.K. and Aalesunds F.K., and although many advocated the building of a new stadium, it was instead decided that three of Brann Stadium's four stands should be rebuilt. The new and improved stadium will hold 20,085, out of which all but 500-1000 will be seated. There will also be enhanced VIP facilities, which will provide the club with a strong source of income in the future. One stand is as of February 2005 being built, and will be ready May 14th. Two more are planned to be finished before the start of the 2008 season.[1] Molde F.K. is a Premier division football club from Molde, Norway. ...
