History

The band was formed in the Fall of 2003 when all the members were Freshman and classical performance majors at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, USA. BoR was originally four cellists and no drummer. Patrick Laird, Chris Thibdeau, Erin Keesecker, and Jeff Hood were the founding members. They began to play a few covers on their own time for fun and things progressed from there. They began to write original music for the band, and the first performance was in a small classical venue at Eastman in December of 2003. The concert was well received by the audience and the group decided to continue with composing and set a goal for an album to be recorded during the summer of 2004. During the Spring semester of 2004, the band picked up drummer Ivan Trevino, and reached deep in to their pockets to purchase electric equipment for the cellos. Unfortunately, due to Chris's acceptance to the prestigious conducting program at Eastman, he felt he would let the band down if he had tried to do both BoR, Performance simultaneously and also conducting. Franklin Keel, a senior at the time took his position and the rest of the semester was a blast. The first electric show took place at the end of that semester at a local coffee shop. The place was packed and the audience was very encouraging.

The first album was recorded in summer 2004 in a small studio in NJ and was duplicated and released in October of 2004. The CD release party held at a local rock club was well attended. The Eastman School of Music had offered to bus students to the show, and BoR witnessed their first mosh pit. After a tough time finding a fourth cellist that fit the position well, Andrew joined up in the Fall and continued to play with Break of Reality until very recently.
